You Ordered Tires Online — Here's Exactly What Happens Next
July 8, 2026 · ExtraBrake
First time ordering tires online? Here's the entire process from click to driving away — no surprises.
Step 1: Order confirmation (instantly)
The moment you place your order at ExtraBrake, you get a confirmation email with your order number and a tracking page link. Your card is charged securely through Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
Step 2: Processing (1–2 business days)
Your tires are picked from stock, inspected, and packed. Tires ship remarkably well: strapped in pairs or individually banded, tread protected. You'll get a shipping confirmation with DHL tracking as soon as they're on the truck.
Step 3: Delivery (2–6 business days, nationwide)
Standard shipping covers the country. Tires usually arrive as freight — no signature required in most cases, but a set of four is bulky, so the driver may prefer someone present. The tracking link narrows the window. Inspect on arrival: any transport damage should be photographed and reported within 48 hours (it's rare, and covered).
Step 4: Installation (about an hour)
Any tire shop or mobile installer mounts, balances and disposes of your old tires for a standard per-tire fee — call ahead and most will book you within days. Mobile installers come to your driveway. Pro tips: ask for the alignment check while it's on the lift (see why), and have them set pressures to your door-jamb sticker before you leave.
Why the minimum of 4 tires helps here too
One shipment, one installation appointment, one balanced matching set on the car. Splitting purchases into pairs means paying the delivery and installation overhead twice — and driving on mismatched tread in between. Find your size, and the rest of the process runs itself.
