Pressure first: the free fuel

Tire choice: LRR compounds
Low-rolling-resistance (LRR) tires use silica-rich compounds that flex with less energy loss. The technology matured years ago: today's LRR touring tires give up little wet grip compared to their standard siblings while saving 2–4% fuel. They're standard fitment on hybrids and EVs for a reason — on an EV, efficient tires directly extend range. Size and tread type matter too
Wider tires and aggressive off-road patterns carry a fuel cost: an M/T on a commuting truck can cost several percent versus an H/T (see our terrain guide). Staying with your factory size, rather than plus-sizing for looks, keeps the drivetrain operating as designed.
Alignment: the hidden drag
A car with toe misalignment is literally scrubbing its tires sideways down the road — drag you fuel, plus rapid shoulder wear. If fuel economy dropped and tire shoulders are feathering, alignment is the cheap fix.
